A Quiet Reformer

An Introduction to Edmund Schlink's Life and Ecumenical Theology

Eugene M. Skibbe

Edmund Schlink was one of the most important theologians in Germany and in the ecumenical movement of the past half-century. His career as a theologian began in the early 1930s as Hitler rose to power. In those critical times, Schlink redefined confessional Lutheran theology. Not a heroic figure like Bonhoeffer, Schlink spent the war years in service to the Word of God in the church, nurturing the people.

An important work for understanding the ministry of the German church during an incredibly destructive time.
