Just One More Time

Gunval Gulbrandson

Young Allison Adams learns that her fiancé, Lt. (j.g.) James Braddock, has been killed in action on the first day of the Gulf War and that she is pregnant. When Allison gives birth to her daughter, Kaitlyn, Allison’s parents insist she continue to live at come and retain her teaching position. A single act of fate moves Allison and her daughter to a small Minnesota town. Meanwhile, Lt. Braddock, who had not been killed, struggles through a six-year odyssey before he is able to return home for a reunion with Allison and his daughter. The young family leads a near perfect life, interrupted at times by Jim’s recall to service in the Middle East. Their story has a surprise ending as Jim is called upon to serve his country—just one more time—following 9/11.
