Life Just Keeps Coming at Us
Sermons by a Searcher
Jack LaMar
There is probably no greater challenge to the minister than the pulpit challenge of trying to make the gospel relevant to living. People come to church looking for different things and a minister has the responsibility of providing a sermon that will nourish the spirit for daily living. When I read scripture I try to keep myself as open as possible to what messages are there and often I remind myself, “Read between the lines . . . read between the lines.” If I read between the lines in scripture, I will find some very interesting insights. You have heard me say before that the process of preaching is like standing in front of a mirror and while I am looking at you, I am also seeing myself, because the relevance and the universality of the Gospel speaks to each and every one of us
