The Speeches and Papers of William V. Frame: Tenth President of Augsburg College
William V. Frame
|
This book reflects the journey of William V. Frame, who as the tenth President of Augsburg College (1997-2006), led the College during a time of growth and the confirmation of its Lutheran commitments to service and vocation. His presidency underscored the importance of faith and reason as "interactive and mutually reinforcing modes of understanding" and committed the College to providing first-class educational opportunities to a highly diverse population of traditionally aged students and working adults. Experienced in academia, finance, and business, he served as president at a time of spirited renewal of the traditions and principles upon which the College was founded and that will shape its future. A native of Pennsylvania who grew up in southeastern Ohio,
William V. Frame earned degrees from the University of Hawaii (B.A. and M.A.) and the University of Washington (Ph.D.). Before coming to Augsburg, his academic career included positions at Kenyon College and Pacific Lutheran University sandwiched around a banking and business career at the First National Bank of Chicago and the Tonka Corporation in Minneapolis
